Also known as Frances Cresswell, Frances Edith Buss (1910–1986) founded her own Christchurch-based label called Fanny Buss. She was a skilled printmaker and produced decorative fabrics, which were used to create striking garments. Her designs were sold by a number of retailers between 1960 and 1980, and she also had her own shop in Christchurch in the 1970s.

this is a unique find, we have just this one available. And in the case of our vintage, it's quite possibly the only one still in existence!
ARCHIVAL loves beautiful clothing. Curated secondhand NZ vintage, NZ contemporary fashion, and gorgeous international designer picks. We especially treasure one of a kind, made to last heirloom pieces, natural fabrics including silk, linen and cotton, and handmade treasures - but we're not above saving the occasional striking high street gem.
We're about slow fashion, supporting sustainable practices - repair and re-use, reducing landfill, sourcing goods locally, and using recycled packaging.
Shipping is $9.99 within NZ, or spend $100+ for free shipping, and we despatch by tracked courier same day as payment, using NZ Courierpost, so delivery is usually next day. We don't charge extra for rural delivery. We courier to Australia for $18aud
We've been trading since 2020. We hope you love your finds, and we're here to help. We're human - if we make a mistake, please let us fix it! Our selection is nearly all pre-loved, so may not be in perfect condition -
- As new: new with tags, or seems unworn.
- Excellent: excellent condition, may have faint signs of wear.
- Great: good condition, with signs of wear, or repairable damage as described and photographed.
We embrace evidence of wear - it adds character!
